NURSE EDUCATOR PROGRAMS OFFERED
ACROSS VIRGINIA

Programs are offered at colleges and universities across Virginia and on-line or distance learning formats are being developed.

Programs are offered at the Master's level and as certificates at both the post Baccalaureate and post Master's level. In addition schools that offer the Ph.D. in Nursing offer faculty preparation programs to Ph.D. students.

Programs include both classroom course work and supervised teaching practicum.

The Nurse Educator track in the M.S.N. program prepares nurses for faculty positions in schools of nursing, as well as Nurse Educator positions in hospitals and community health care agencies. Graduates are prepared to develop, deliver, critique, and refine educational offerings in nursing education program settings, as well as in health care settings. Students, based on their professional backgrounds and career goals, are individually assigned to masters or doctoral-prepared preceptors for the Nurse Educator practicum in a variety of academic and clinical settings.

The Certificate in Nurse Education program combines foundation courses in education with courses in the principles and nursing practice. The program prepares students for roles in nursing education in both academic and non-academic settings. Certificate Programs are offered at both the post Baccalaureate and post Master's level.
